Jesus spent a lot of time during the Feast of the Tabernacle teaching and preaching in the temple. His authority and knowledge astounded some people, confused others, and angered still more. He invited the Jewish people, who were familiar with the prophecies about the coming Messiah, to see Him for who He was. And He offered them a gift they couldn’t receive any other way than by believing in Him. Jesus saw their needs. He saw their emptiness. He saw their inability to be holy and righteous and good on their own. He knew that God the Father had sent Him to complete them in every way; now He wanted them to know and believe. “Streams of living water”—a refreshment in their souls that would never run dry. Do you suppose He captured their attention? Do His words capture your attention? Do you want the thirsting of your soul satisfied? Believe on Jesus…and you will be filled.
