Jesus gave the command to love, and He followed it up with this assurance: if we show love to one another—first to our fellow believers and then to unbelievers—we will point to Jesus with our lives. When Christians battle each other with ugly words and ugly actions, what a message that gives to those who are watching. When Christians join hands and unite to stand up for right without utilizing hatred or vitriol, that also sends a message. This world is a mess, people are messed up, right seems wrong and wrong seems right in so many eyes. Do you see how much it matters for us to do what Jesus called us to do and choose to love our enemies, to do good to those who hurt us, to be the hands and feet of Jesus on this earth? Let’s work together and let people KNOW we are Christians by our love.
