It doesn’t seem to matter in what direction we look these days, we discover someone suffering. Suffering from an illness, suffering injustice, suffering deep sorrow… This world definitely has its trials and tribulations. It always has; it always will. When we’re suffering, we want it to end. That’s only natural. There are some people who will tell us it’s worthless to pray—that we need to ACT in some way to bring the suffering to an end. But I truly believe there is no greater response than prayer. Prayer connects us with a Force greater than our own, greater than any force in the world whether natural or man-made. Prayer takes us out of our own will and opens us to the Creator’s will. Who can know better than the Creator what is best for the created? I know from personal experience, prayer brings change. It doesn’t always change the circumstance, but it changes ME. When I’m suffering—physically, emotionally, spiritually—my best course of action is to take it to the Lord in prayer. In His presence, I find my peace and comfort.
