Faithful people do more than “check off” a box that acknowledges the existence of a supreme being. Some people will say “I believe there’s a god,” but they have no belief in Jehovah-Elohim, the eternal Creator. God is Lord over space and time. God simply said, “Let there be light,” and there was light! Every culture has its own idea of how the world came into being, but the biblical worldview affirms the one, true God created everything. Faith in God as the Creator is fundamental to biblical faith. If I believe God created this world—its towering mountains, roaring waterfalls, rolling prairies, myriad flowers and trees, and creatures of sea, land, and air…and everything else—and let it all work together to not only please my senses but meet my basic human needs, then it’s a small step to believe that this same God can be trusted with the day-to-day happenings of my life. Faith leads me to fully rely on God and follow Him in obedience.
