Nutritionists say we are what we eat; I say we are what we think about. What consumes our mind will affect our attitude and actions. Therefore, thinking of excellence and things worthy of praise will positively impact what we say and do. So where do we find these things of excellence and praise-worthiness? In His Word, for sure. This world is constantly changing, but God’s Word does not change. His instructions for the believers living in Philippi during Paul’s lifetime are as applicable today as they were then. Psalm 1 starts with this wise admonition: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (KJV)” If we truly want to change from the inside out, it starts with His Word hidden in our hearts and applied to our daily lives. This practice leads to blessings beyond anything the world can offer.
