Wise words

When our forefathers crafted the document that would guide the United States of America as a new country, they insisted on religious freedom. In their previous homeland, they’d either suffered or been witness to persecution for disagreeing with the Church of England’s teachings. They wanted the people of this new country to choose for themselves what they believed without fear or retribution. Today’s U.S. still has religious freedom, but culture has put a different spin on it. Culture says we mustn’t challenge or question others’ beliefs. This cultural practice is in direct conflict with scripture, which instructs us to speak the truth about who Jesus is and invite others into a relationship with Him. In Jude’s time, some men were preaching a false gospel, and Jude wrote a letter, challenging believers of the Truth to action. Remember what Jesus taught, Jude encourages the receivers of his missive—stay true to Him and His teachings, and make clear to others what you believe. These are wise words for us today.
