The Solid Rock

Taking care of our physical bodies isn’t folly. We should give consideration to eating healthy, exercising, and otherwise caring for our bodies. After all, we “house” the Holy Spirit. But if we get too focused on our physical body’s health, we might overlook our spiritual health. Seeking godliness is always profitable for us. When we seek and practice godliness, we store up treasure in heaven. We set an example of faithfulness this world desperately needs to see. In our society, there are few if any true stabilities, because the “rules” and “roles” and “titles” are always changing. But God does not change. HE is our stability in a very unstable world. HE is our Creator and Counselor and Comforter, the One on whom we can always depend. We grow in our relationship with Him by spending time with Him—time in prayer, time in His Word, time with fellow Christians. These should be priority at all times, but especially in trying, troubled times. “In times like these you need a Savior; In times like these you need an anchor. Be very sure, be very sure Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!” (From “In Times Like These” by George Beverly Shea.)
