Sanctuary

David’s relationship with God went all the way back to his childhood. He’d seen first-hand God’s power in rescuing him from lions, bears, and giants. He’d been sheltered by God when pursued by those determined to destroy him. Those life experiences had convinced David that God wouldn’t leave or forsake him. David also recognized that life was temporary; his relationship with God was eternal. Because he knew he would spend eternity with the One he called “my God,” he could glorify God even in life’s toughest moments. It’s easy for us to think, “Well, that’s a Bible character. Life was different then.” Let me tell you, life might be different, but our confidence that God’s love is better than life is still 100% applicable today. Need proof? With my mother’s last breaths, she was straining to sing, “I love to tell the story.” God was David’s sanctuary; God was Mom’s sanctuary; God is my sanctuary; and He will be your sanctuary, too.
