Reflect that truth

This is one of those verses that can make you rear back and think, whoa, wait a minute—I’m supposed to be perfect? Um, no. Not that’s not possible. We can never be perfect, but we can consistently practice a lifestyle of emulating Jesus. Will we mess up sometimes? Of course. We’re human. But the one who is saved does not consistently engage in a lifestyle of sinful behavior. The one who is saved is not comfortable sinning. When we’re saved, the Holy Spirit reminds us when we’ve stepped outside of God’s boundaries, and we can’t be at ease with ourselves until we’ve asked forgiveness. One who is born of God keeps His commands as best he can. As far as the evil one, he’s going to pester us. He delights when Christians trip and fall. He can pester and tempt, but he cannot MAKE us sin. That’s our choice. Remember, we’re in this world but not part of it. Our lifestyle should reflect that truth.
