Lean into Jesus

There’s a common mindset that if the going gets hard, abandon it, because you deserve happiness. On the surface it sounds pretty good, but is it really? I would imagine an athlete would tell you the training that goes into being good enough to compete in the Olympics is hard, but if he abandons it, will he ever experience the joy of a medal or the satisfaction of seeing his dream to reality? Sometimes it’s good for us to experience something hard. I can tell you from personal experience, it was in the hardest, most confusing, most painful times of life that I learned how my Father sustains me. Trials sent me into Bible study, seeking wisdom and comfort. Those were my growing times, and I treasure them now despite how much they hurt in the middle of them. Sometimes we need to come up against a mighty conflict in order to learn that God is the One who gives us the ability to fling a rock from a sling and fell the giant. If you’re in a hard spot right now, don’t abandon the opportunity to grow through it. Lean into Him. Delve into His Word. Flex those spiritual muscles. Someday you will celebrate the knowledge and strength gained. And let me know if I can help pray you through.
