His mission

“After this” refers to Jesus being hassled for healing a sick man on the Sabbath. He responded respectfully but straightforwardly to His accusers, and then He moved on. Imagine Him, heartsore and weary and really needing a little time to Himself, but not even having a chance to rest a bit because of the persistent crowd. It might seem like a compliment to be sought after by so many people, but Jesus had the ability to see the motivation behind each individual’s attention. Some were curiosity seekers—what would He do next? Some were in need of a healing touch—will He heal me? At any time He could have turned around, exposed them for what they were, and sent them on their way. But He didn’t. Because He came for ALL. Because He loved, unconditionally. Because He was doing His Father’s business, which was to seek and save the LOST. Selfishness wasn’t part of His mission. We’ll continue that thought tomorrow.
