Years ago, a robin built her nest on my bedroom windowsill. I took such delight in watching her care for the four babies that hatched from pale blue eggs. One afternoon a storm blew in with torrential winds and pounding rain. I feared the baby robins would be torn from the nest, and I ran to look. And what I saw is imbedded in my memory forever: the mama robin stood over the nest, her wings spread, protecting her babies from the storm.
If a wild bird possesses the love and instinct to protect its young, how much more will the mighty God of love and faithfulness protect us? He protects those souls which dwell in Him from the tempter’s snares. He comforts us in the midst of life’s storms. He strengthens us to stand firm in times of adversity. As Psalm 117:2 tells us, His love to us is great and His faithfulness endures forever.
