His example

When I was a kid, this verse made me stumble a bit. Jesus did such miraculous things—brought people back to life, healed the sick, made the blind see and the deaf hear… Did that mean, if I wasn’t able to do those things, I didn’t really believe in Him? Now that I’m older *ahem*, I understand it a little better. There are some people who seem to do miraculous things. The woman who prayed for my healing in 2004 has seen many other healings take place when she’s prayed, but she’s quick to point out SHE isn’t the healer, she’s merely the conduit asking for the Lord’s will, and HE is the Healer. So someone who takes the credit probably isn’t believing as much in Jesus as believing in self. Just sayin’. Also, Jesus told His followers some things He wanted us to do: feed the hungry, visit the persecuted, care for the widowed and orphaned, love the unlovable, spread the Gospel… If we claim Him as Lord, our actions should lend credence by following His example to love as He loved.
