His eternal peace

For three years, the disciples had walked side-by-side with Jesus. I cannot imagine their confusion and sorrow when He told them He would be leaving them. But He did not leave them alone and without comfort. The very Spirit of God Himself would come to each of them, indwell them, and remain with them each step of their life’s journey. We talked about the Holy Spirit last week in Sunday school, how it was necessary for Jesus to go away so the Comforter could come. Having Jesus on the earth was wonderful, but His human standing meant He would only be in one place at one time. Look where all the Holy Spirit can be—in every part of the world every second of every minute of every day! He comes alongside individual believers to advise, strengthen, comfort, and guide. And He never leaves us. We can walk this troubled world with the assurance that our God is ever with us. There’s no better “insurance” than His eternal presence.
