Guard our hearts

When I was growing up and heard the minister talk about antichrist, I envisioned a mean-looking individual—kind of the devil, but without horns or a tail, and wearing a crisp black suit. (Yes, I had an active imagination.) But in reality, an antichrist is anyone who is an opponent or adversary of Christ. (Even me, before I was saved!) An antichrist replaces Jesus with a selfish or worldly view, refusing to acknowledge his need for a Savior or expressing an unwillingness to make Him Lord of his life. With this definition, we know that many antichrists have been active since the the time of John’s writing until now! So what is meant by “the last hour”? Frankly, we’ve been living in the last hour since Jesus ascended to heaven. Since we’re living in a time of antichrists, we must be aware. We must guard our hearts from messages that would pull us away from the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Tomorrow, we’ll examine the key piece of information that determines if a person is antichrist.
