A simple choice

Asa gave a kingly command to the people: seek the LORD God! Have you ever played hide and seek? To seek was to pursue. It was active. That’s what the people of Judah were instructed to do—activity seek and follow the LORD of their ancestors. It takes effort to do right, especially when those around you aren’t choosing a godly pathway. But these people knew what they were supposed to do, just as we so often know what is pleasing or displeasing to God the Father. Instead of “going with the flow,” we’re instructed to pursue righteousness. To follow His commands. To honor Him with our lives, our attitudes, our actions. Joshua 24:15 is a good Scripture to guide us: “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” It’s a choice, and some might say it’s just too hard. But if we want peace in our spirits, then it’s a simple choice.
