Sharing Jesus

Hoo boy, it sure is easy to offend these days, isn’t it? Jesus knew that some of those following Him were complaining about His message, and He asked the question, but you know what? I don’t think He was all that concerned about whether or not He offended. What concerned Him was…are they getting it? Are they hearing the truth? Are their hearts being changed?

When I was an eighth grader, my family moved into a beautiful old house with 12” mopboards (baseboards). The top inch and half was like a little crown molding—very decorative—and man o’ livin’, did it trap dust. LOL Once a month my job was to go around on my hands and knees with a rag and a can of Pledge and clean those mopboards. I fussed and carried on about that chore. It offended me to get down on my knees for that task, but when it was done I was proud of my accomplishment. I looked at the gleaming oak and marveled at how beautiful it was.

Every soul is in need of the beauty Jesus brings. It might offend someone to hear that they’re “dusty”/sinful, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t “spray and scrub”/teach and show until they recognize the truth. The truth sets people free. Those of us who have found freedom in Christ should never hesitate to share it. We might offend, but we might also lead them to the Savior.
