Have you ever felt like snapping at someone, “Grow up!”? (Maybe someone has snapped it at you…heh, heh, heh.) James was kind of telling his readers, Listen, folks, it’s time to grow from baby Christians to maturity. From the day we receive Christ until our final breath, we should grow spiritually daily. Daily placing our faith in Him, daily living for Him, daily striving to reflect His righteousness. The trials we encounter give us a chance to build our spiritual muscles, adding virtue upon virtue until we instinctively turn to Him in times of hardship and respond in ways that glorify Him. It’s a life-long process, but the goal is to be empty of the things that mar our fellowship with God and filled with His character. Mature and complete…that’s where I want to be.
