The human body has many parts and each part has a specific purpose. If a person loses an eye or a hand, he discovers how important each part is. The physical body will still function if a part is missing, but not without challenges. In the same way, the Body of Christ is made up all the individual believers, and each believer has a function. We want to be unified (one body) yet diversified (uniquely functioning). When each believer contributes in his or her own unique way to the Body, the Body then serves the world the way God intended it to. If some members decide they don’t want to contribute, the whole (the whole Body and the whole world) suffers. What an awesome blessing and responsibility we’ve been given to work together with other believers to further the Kingdom of Christ! Will they know we are Christians by our love for fellow believers and also the lost?
