Careful attention could be interpreted as “intentional diligence.” Living out our faith requires diligence because there are so many opinions and belief systems in the world. We’ve got to keep our ears and heart tuned to the Holy Spirit’s voice. If we proclaim Christianity, our lifestyle should reflect that we are children of light. We are to walk as “wise people.” True wisdom comes from knowing God. We can’t know God unless we know—have been saved by—His Son. Once we’ve been saved, our responsibility is to live in accordance with God’s will…meaning, doing what is pleasing to Him. Thanks to God’s Spirit, we don’t have to rely on our own wisdom to do this—He leads and guides and advises and grows us. We become wise when we heed His voice.
