Perfection…impossible! I should know. I spent years trying so hard to be perfect (and failing so miserably) that I made myself physically ill. The first part of this verse says “For we all stumble in many ways.” Yes. Yes, I do. So, if I can’t be perfect, why should I even try? Because this isn’t so much a command to be perfect, but to work at perfecting what I say. The words I speak reflect my beliefs. If I hold to Him, spend time with Him, listen to Him and absorb His Word, then HE will more frequently influence what I say. I must strive toward letting my words reflect WHOSE I am.
